Exciting New Steps Getting Us Closer to Our Dream
Updated: Sep 23, 2019
Okay, so we have some exciting news to announce, along with a few setbacks that have actually turned into exciting new things...
First, our initial nonprofit application was denied based on our name already being registered through the LLC established years ago. As a solution, we have filed to amend the name of our LLC from “Solstead” to “Solstead Greenworks” and we are now waiting for this amendment to be approved. Once we have this designation secured, we will begin offering contract services to the community through landscaping, permaculture, composting, laundry to landscape set ups, and more.
In the meantime, we will be refiling to get our nonprofit status with the state and federal governments. Until then, we have secured funding for the road and will begin building structures on the property once the road is complete!!! This was a huge question mark lingering over our project for a long time and, thanks to some very generous donors, we will be able to bring our roads up to county standards so that we can begin operations!
And, in case you hadn’t heard, we also secured the Bisbee Science Exploration and Research Center (BSERC) proposal! We’ll be working on building the exhibit for the Bisbee Science Lab (BSL) Grand Opening on October 11th! We hope you’ll all come out to see to attend and see the exhibit when it is unveiled on. You can read more about that here.
Needless to say, there’s a lot going on around here. We have also welcomed one more team member to our group! Eugenio Longhi is an architect that attended Earthship Biotecture Academy in the same class as most of our Solsteadees. We are excited to have him on board and can’t wait to start moving on buildings and development.
We will continue to post updates here and on our social media platforms; so follow along for more information, upcoming workshops, and the unveiling of our new business Solstead Greenworks!
